As normally based Mbb Bo 105 G-NAAB is away on maintenance at the moment, this week covering operations is same type G-CDBS.Pilot has had a few questions as to whether he was now operating on behalf of the Coastguard - I assume because of the scheme?
When chatting to pilot, he wasn't sure when EC.135 is coming, also debated the issue of Air Ambulance Trusts going it alone & thus not having aircraft cover when there is maintenance downtime etc....
As previously mentioned, Robinson R22 G-OAVA is a new resident at Thruxton with FAST Helicopters.Another new resident (at least for completion) is Saunders-Roe P.531-2 G-APVL which has finally made the long journey by road from it's previous home.
G-APVL should be up & running in the next couple of months. It's a unique type, a successor to the Saunders-Roe Skeeter and predecessor of the Westland Scout, it has a mix of Scout airframe with Wasp tail rotor. (Photo to follow)
